Finding agreement on an accurate definition of "Fine Wines" is challenging, to say the least. Some experts consider these wines better than 90% of all other wines; others claim that they come from a specific, identifiable place and have a long-standing reputation for high quality. For Hugh Johnson, Fine Wines are simply worth talking about. Unarguably, they are an elite in the world´s wine production.

Today, we´ll be discussing Fine Wines and the role played by Rioja in this arena with Spanish Master of Wine Álvaro Ribalta. Álvaro is a seasoned expert in the international wine trade and we are thrilled to be sharing this time with him talking about the increasing demand for rare, premium wines from Rioja.

Álvaro Ribalta MW is Spain’s most recent Master of Wine. Álvaro has been working for an UK leading specialist importer since 2014 and is now their Spanish buyer since relocating to his native Barcelona.
